Academy Federation Urges "Switch to Remote Classes for Entrance Exam Academies Before CSAT"

Strong Social Distancing Measures Including Adjustment of Enrollment at Entertainment Academies
Utilizing the 'Health Status Self-Diagnosis App' Developed by the Ministry of Education

Academy Federation Urges "Switch to Remote Classes for Entrance Exam Academies Before CSAT" On the 21st, academy instructors in the district are undergoing diagnostic tests at a temporary screening clinic for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) installed in front of the Daechi 2-dong Community Service Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is conducting comprehensive COVID-19 testing on about 20,000 academy instructors in the district at a rate of one thousand people per day. This measure was taken as anxiety grew in the academy community after one instructor at a large entrance exam academy in Daechi-dong tested positive the day before, ahead of the College Scholastic Ability Test. [Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Ahead of the 2021 College Scholastic Ability Test to be held on December 3, the Korea Academy Federation announced on the 29th that it will further strengthen its prevention activities against the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

The federation explained, "We have been conducting prevention activities by forming a 'Self-Quarantine Team for Academies' jointly with metropolitan and provincial offices of education, but recently confirmed cases have occurred in some academies," and "As anxiety spreads due to consecutive group infections, the federation plans to promote stronger prevention activities to stop this."

First, entertainment academies are strongly encouraged to ensure sufficient social distancing, such as adjusting class sizes. In addition, the 'Health Status Self-Diagnosis Application (app)' developed by the Ministry of Education will be actively utilized, and for entrance exam academies, guidance will be provided to switch classes to remote learning as much as possible before the CSAT.

The Academy Federation has 86,400 academies nationwide as members. Among them, Daehyeok Entrance Exam Academies number about 6,400.
