[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] At the 2020 Q3 earnings conference call held by Samsung Electronics on the 29th, Lee Jong-min, Executive Director of the Wireless Business Division, said about the 5G smartphone market outlook, "The shipment volume of 5G smartphones is expected to exceed 500 million units in 2021, and while 5G devices had been concentrated in the premium-high-end segment, they will expand to the entry-level (affordable) segment, allowing consumers to access 5G smartphones across various price ranges."

He continued, "Based on the 5G capabilities we have built so far, we will expand our portfolio and operate lineups tailored to regional characteristics to broaden customer choices, and by expanding strategic partnerships with global top-tier companies, we will provide 5G specialized services and increase sales volume."
