Himchan: "Driving Under the Influence Is Absolutely Unacceptable Behavior"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Himchan, formerly of B.A.P, has announced a hiatus from activities along with an apology after causing a drunk driving traffic accident.
On the 27th, Himchan stated through his agency, "I sincerely bow my head and apologize for delivering such unfortunate news to my fans," adding, "I deeply apologize once again for causing social controversy due to the drunk driving accident, and I am profoundly reflecting on the inappropriate and shameful incident that has caused great disappointment to the public."
He especially said, "I am deeply remorseful and reflective about drunk driving, and if any further investigations are required, I will sincerely cooperate with the police. Also, from today onward, I will live my life in a manner of self-restraint and reflection," announcing his suspension of activities.
He continued, "I sincerely apologize once again to all the fans who have always supported and cherished me for causing worry and concern," and emphasized, "Drunk driving is an act that must never be committed socially, and it is an action for which I cannot evade responsibility. I sincerely bow my head and apologize for causing concern to many people due to this unfortunate incident," reiterating his apology.
Himchan is currently on trial for charges of forcibly molesting a woman in her 20s at a pension in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, in July 2018. The 8th hearing is scheduled for next month.

Meanwhile, he made a comeback on the 25th with the release of his new single "Reason Of My Life." Despite the legal judgment related to the sexual assault not being concluded, Himchan explained his reason for resuming activities by saying, "I wanted to meet my fans once again."
However, just one day after his comeback, at around 11:30 p.m. on the 26th, he is accused of causing an accident by hitting a guardrail while driving under the influence near Hakdong Intersection on Dosan-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. At the time of the accident, Himchan's blood alcohol concentration was 0.08%, which is the level for license cancellation.
