Naju-si Operates 'Drive Market' at Agricultural Technology Center Parking Lot

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Han-hyuk Lee] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 27th that it will operate a 'Drive Market' to revitalize the sales of local agricultural products at the Agricultural Technology Center parking lot from the 30th to the 31st.

Drive-through refers to a store where customers can shop while remaining seated in their cars.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Korea was the first in the world to implement drive-through testing centers by applying the drive-through concept, and K-quarantine was praised worldwide as a model case.

This Drive Market event was planned to revitalize the frozen agricultural product consumption market due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation and to secure food reliability through the meeting of consumers and farmers.

Five items, including Naju Chu-hwang Pears (3kg, 11,000 KRW), a representative local specialty, Shine Muscat grapes (2kg, 30,000 KRW), Hwangto sweet potatoes (3kg, 8,000 KRW), a set of seasoned soy sauce and pear dipping sauce (18,000 KRW), and baked pear snacks (10,000 KRW), will be sold at prices up to 25% lower than market prices.

The purchasing method is designed to prevent COVID-19; consumers select products while seated in their vehicles, and staff load the products directly into the cars.

The market event is open to all citizens, and up to two items per product can be purchased.

The city will give tasting lunch boxes to purchasing vehicles and a gift of 1kg of glutinous barley rice for purchases over 30,000 KRW.

A city official said, “We planned this market event to promote agricultural product consumption by applying the drive-through method, a model case of K-quarantine. We ask for your great interest and participation.”
