[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Workplaces that falsely reduced the number of employees to evade the application of the Labor Standards Act, which excludes workplaces with fewer than five employees, have been reported.

The labor movement organization 'Gwonrichatgi Union' announced on the 27th at a press conference in front of the Seoul Employment and Labor Office that they submitted a complaint against eight workplaces disguised as having fewer than five employees and requested labor supervision for three workplaces where informants are still employed.

By type of rights violation, there were four cases of unfair dismissal and four cases of wage arrears, including unpaid annual leave allowances and overtime pay.

Gwonrichatgi Union also filed 27 and 12 complaints in June and August, respectively. The organization plans to hold the '2020 Fake Under-5 Employees Reporting Contest,' styled as an awards ceremony, in December to campaign against disguised workplaces with fewer than five employees.
