China: "US Boeing and Lockheed Martin Selling Weapons to Taiwan Will Be Sanctioned"

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] China has announced sanctions against three companies?Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon?that are attempting to sell weapons to Taiwan.

Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mentioned these three companies during a regular briefing on the 26th and stated that China has decided to take necessary measures to protect its national interests. Zhao added that U.S. individuals and institutions involved in the arms sales process will also be subject to sanctions.

He further stated that the U.S. selling weapons to Taiwan violates the "One China" principle, breaches agreements between China and the U.S., and seriously undermines China's sovereignty and security, emphasizing that "China strongly opposes this."

Earlier, the U.S. Department of State approved arms exports to Taiwan worth up to $1.8 billion (approximately 2.04 trillion KRW) and notified Congress. The Trump administration has been pushing for the export of advanced weapons to Taiwan to increase pressure on China.
