[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The bank president recommendation committee of Suhyup Bank, which is in the process of appointing the next president, has passed 10 out of 11 applicants in the first stage of document screening. The interview stage will be held on the 28th.
According to the banking sector on the 26th, the Suhyup Bank president recommendation committee conducted document screening for 11 applicants who applied for the re-announcement of the next president and selected 10 candidates for the interview, excluding Park Baek-su, director of the Post Office Financial Development Institute.
Five internal candidates from Suhyup Bank, including former Suhyup Bank standing auditor Kang Myung-seok, Suhyup Bank senior deputy president Kim Jin-gyun, Suhyup Bank deputy president Kim Cheol-hwan, former Suhyup Bank deputy president Park Seok-ju, and former Suhyup Central Association senior deputy president of the credit division Lee Gil-dong, as well as five external candidates including Son Gyo-deok, outside director of the Korea Development Bank (former president of Gyeongnam Bank), Jeong Chun-sik, former Hana Bank deputy president, Ko Tae-soon, former CEO of NH Nonghyup Capital, Kang Cheol-seung, representative of the Korea Fisheries Policy Forum, and Jeon Bong-jin, former head of sales at Samsung Securities, were selected for the interview stage.
These candidates will undergo the interview on the 28th. To be selected as the final candidate, they must obtain the consent of at least four out of the total seven members of the recommendation committee, which is two-thirds of the committee members. Currently, the recommendation committee consists of five members: three recommended by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Financial Services Commission, and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries respectively, and two recommended by the Suhyup Central Association (former Suhyup cooperative heads).
Previously, during the interview process of the first president recruitment, where five out of 10 candidates applied, the final candidate selection failed. Some have pointed out that all 10 candidates lack weight, raising expectations that the final candidate may not be selected in the second interview either, potentially leading to a third recruitment.
The term of the current president, Lee Dong-bin, ended on the 24th, but according to the articles of association, he will remain in office until the next president is appointed and continue his duties.
