The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) has released a bundle of patents free of charge to prevent industrial site accidents. They are also providing intellectual property rights that are licensed for a fee all at once.

KOSHA (President Park Doo-yong) is participating in the 6th Online Korea Safety Industry Expo (Online K-safety EXPO 2020) and operating an ‘Industrial Property Rights Licensing Guide Online Exhibition Booth.’

The booth is operated online to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and the period is from October 26 to December 31.

The agency provides industrial property rights (patents, utility models, designs) it holds to small and medium-sized enterprises either free of charge or for a fee to support the reduction of industrial accidents and the growth of SMEs.

Through this online exhibition booth, KOSHA guides the targets for industrial property rights licensing, application qualifications, and application methods, and promotes excellent cases of KOSHA licensing.

The paid licensing targets include a total of 26 items, including 17 patents such as the ‘Worker Safety Activity Detection Device Using a Smartphone’ that can identify the location of a worker in an emergency, 8 utility models, and 1 design.

The free licensing targets include a total of 8 items, including 6 patents and 2 utility models such as the ‘Collision Prevention Device for Gantry Cranes’ that can efficiently prevent collisions and entrapment accidents caused by cranes.

Detailed information can be found on the Safety Industry Expo website’s online exhibition hall - Public Safety Services Hall.

A KOSHA official said, “In this difficult economic situation due to COVID-19, we hope that through this online booth operation, we can grow together with more small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies, and furthermore, that the safety and health market will be revitalized.”
