Seoul Reports 20 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Continued Cluster Infections in Family and Social Gatherings

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] As small-scale group infections through gatherings such as meetings with acquaintances and family continue, the daily number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul has again reached 20.

Seoul City announced on the 26th at midnight that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Seoul area increased by 20 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 5,827.

Among the 20 new confirmed cases, 13 were from group infections, 2 were contacts of confirmed cases, and 5 cases are under investigation for their infection routes.

Regarding the group infection at a Korean medicine hospital located in Gangseo-gu, one patient who had been hospitalized there was first confirmed positive on the 23rd, followed by three family members and another patient sharing the same hospital room testing positive, increasing the total related confirmed cases to 5.

Also, at a restaurant gathering in Yongin City, one person residing in another city or province was first confirmed positive on the 23rd, with 9 additional cases confirmed by the 24th and 4 more on the 25th, bringing the total related confirmed cases to 14, of which 8 are residents of Seoul.

In the case of a family group infection in Guro-gu, one resident of Guro-gu was first confirmed positive on the 22nd, with 12 additional cases by the 24th and 1 more on the 25th, increasing the total related confirmed cases to 14. Among these, 10 are confirmed cases in Seoul.

Additionally, at a dance academy in Bucheon City where a family member of this confirmed case works, 14 more people including students were confirmed positive through testing by the 24th, with 2 of these confirmed cases residing in Seoul.

So far, 5,368 people in Seoul have been declared fully recovered and discharged, while 385 are currently undergoing isolation treatment.
