Seoul Arts Center to Release 'Short-Form' Content on YouTube Starting November

90-Minute Play 'XXL Leotard Anna Sui Hand Mirror' Offered in 5 Clips Condensed to 40 Minutes

Seoul Arts Center to Release 'Short-Form' Content on YouTube Starting November

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The Seoul Arts Center will launch the 'PLAY CLIPS' service, featuring 'short-form' content, starting November 1st.

PLAY CLIPS is a so-called 'theater viewed through clips,' where a single play is composed and produced into several short video clips (approximately 5 to 6 minutes each). This content is designed for the younger generation who communicate through 'short-form' content to enjoy it casually.

PLAY CLIPS are filmed in various locations beyond the traditional stage to provide stylish visuals and storytelling. The videos, created through collaboration between theater directors and video directors, are edited and compiled into short clips and presented to audiences via YouTube. After the videos are uploaded, audiences can watch the theater clips on the Seoul Arts Center's YouTube channel anytime and anywhere on mobile devices and computers.

This year, the Seoul Arts Center will present two PLAY CLIPS works. The first is the play "XXL Leotard Anna Sui Hand Mirror," written by Park Chan-kyu, directed by Jeon In-cheol, and video directed by Jung Byung-mok. Although it superficially deals with the stories of teenagers, it forms a cross-generational empathy and offers audiences various reflections on reality and life.

Written by Park Chan-kyu, known for "Cheolgabang Chujeokjakjeon" and "Changsin-dong," and directed by Jeon In-cheol, known for "I Am a Murderer" and "Mokran Unni," this work addresses the daily lives and realistic concerns of teenagers who must follow adults without complaint despite different environments and unfair competition. Co-produced by Doosan Art Center, Ansan Cultural Foundation, and Theater Dolpagu, this play has been consistently restaged since 2015.

"XXL Leotard Anna Sui Hand Mirror" is originally a play with a running time of about 90 minutes, but for PLAY CLIPS, it is newly adapted and condensed into about 40 minutes, produced as a total of five clips. Although the videos are shorter than the original play, they offer a high level of immersion, allowing viewers to appreciate the story and actors' psychological portrayals more delicately.

The Seoul Arts Center will release the first clip of "XXL Leotard Anna Sui Hand Mirror" on November 1st through the Seoul Arts Center's SAC On Screen YouTube channel. From the second clip onward, new clips will be sequentially released every Tuesday from November 9th through December on the same channel. The second work to be presented is a one-act play by Tennessee Williams.
