[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] Following the National Assembly inspection, wreaths bearing messages of support for Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol have been lined up in front of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, while Park Su-hyun, the Public Relations and Communication Committee Chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, lamented, saying, "Those sending wreaths to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office do not express anger at reality."
On the 24th, Park wrote on her Facebook, "This is not a fight between Chu Mi-ae and Yoon Seok-yeol, but the final battle of prosecutorial reform and resistance," adding, "The roots of an old tree are not easily uprooted."
Park criticized Prosecutor General Yoon's attitude shown during the National Assembly inspection, stating, "It shows how abnormal the prosecutorial power position has been all this time." She further criticized, "All of this stems from prosecutors' sense of superiority."
She continued, "The abnormal power of the prosecution comes from the arbitrary and selective use of power, where they prosecute what should not be prosecuted and do not prosecute what should be prosecuted."
She also addressed those who sent wreaths supporting Prosecutor General Yoon, saying, "They do not express anger at the reality where the prosecution rate against ordinary citizens exceeds 40%, while the prosecution rate for crimes committed by prosecutors is less than 1%," and criticized, "Those who send wreaths saying 'Stay strong, Yoon Seok-yeol' to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office are people who cannot distinguish between 'justice for the rich, injustice for the poor' and 'justice for the powerful, injustice for the powerless.'"
Finally, Park appealed for the necessity of prosecutorial reform and the establishment of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), emphasizing, "We must overcome these difficulties and complete prosecutorial reform and the establishment of the CIO this time."
The wreaths supporting Prosecutor General Yoon are known to have been sent by his supporters, bearing phrases such as "Yoon Seok-yeol will definitely win" and "The country lives if Yoon Seok-yeol lives."
