Kim Woong "The ruling party cannot overcome the insurmountable skill gap"
Kim Nam-guk "Is the enemy that a member of the National Assembly must defeat with a knife?"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Kim Woong, a member of the People Power Party, described his impression of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee's audit of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office as "like watching the movie Gladiator." In response, Kim Namguk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized him, saying, "Does he think members of the National Assembly are enemies to be stabbed with a sword?"
Earlier, on the 23rd, Kim Woong posted on his Facebook, "Yesterday's Legislation and Judiciary Committee audit felt like watching the movie 'Gladiator,'" along with a photo from the film.
Directed by Ridley Scott, the movie Gladiator tells the story of Maximus, a gladiator who opposes the emperor of the ancient Roman Empire.
Kim Woong said, "They tied up the undefeated general and the rookies insulted him and used all sorts of schemes, but in the end, they could not overcome the 'insurmountable' skill gap."
This is interpreted as an evaluation of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's 'determined remarks' during the Supreme Prosecutors' Office audit on the 22nd, where he responded to lawmakers' questions.
In response, Kim Namguk, who attended the audit, wrote on Facebook that afternoon, "I don't understand why (Kim Woong) imagined Gladiator, but I agree with some parts," adding, "Yesterday, Prosecutor General Yoon certainly looked like a 'gladiator.'
He continued, "A gladiator from the ancient Roman era when the rule of law was not established."
Kim said, "The Yoon I saw at the Legislation and Judiciary Committee did not properly study the issues he should have addressed, such as Lime and the Optimus case, and only boldly made 'political remarks.' Instead of showing humility before the people, he slammed the desk and displayed an arrogant attitude as if piercing the sky," criticizing him.
He added, "Why a gladiator who fights with swords? It is very regrettable if he thinks of lawmakers questioning on behalf of the people in the National Assembly as enemies."
