[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors (Chairman Lee Dong-jin, Dobong District Mayor) held its 154th regular meeting on the 23rd at 4 p.m. at the Seodaemun-gu Convergence Talent Education Center, with 25 district mayors in attendance.

Before the meeting, the Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors listened to a lecture by Director Lee Yoo-jin of the Green Transition Research Institute on the topic of ‘Social Economy and Green New Deal Linkage Measures’ and experienced and toured the Seodaemun-gu Convergence Talent Education Center, an educational facility tailored to the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Through this meeting, the council reviewed and resolved a total of 10 agenda items, including proposals to improve inconveniences related to the purchase of urban railway public bonds, extension of financial support for the pilot project of residents' autonomy councils, strengthening punishment standards for violations of the COVID-19 prevention ‘gathering ban,’ and proposals for amendments to the Local Tax Act.

The agenda items that were reviewed and resolved will be further discussed in depth at the regular meeting between Seoul City and autonomous districts next month, and recommendations will be made to Seoul City and the central government.

At the regular meeting, Chairman Lee Dong-jin stated, “The Seoul-type residents' autonomy council pilot project is currently being promoted in 23 districts, and this year it has been expanded to all neighborhoods in 12 autonomous districts,” adding, “To ensure the successful establishment of the residents' autonomy councils, Seoul City and the autonomous districts will actively promote the project together until it stabilizes.”
