[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential candidate in the United States, expressed on the 22nd (local time) that he could also meet with Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea. He said he could meet on the condition that North Korea agrees to reduce its nuclear capabilities.

During the U.S. presidential TV debate held that day, Biden responded to the moderator's question about whether there were conditions for meeting Chairman Kim by saying, "The condition is that he agrees to reduce his nuclear capabilities for a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula."

Biden referred to President Donald Trump as having legitimized North Korea by holding talks with Chairman Kim and called Kim a "bully."

In response, President Trump repeated his previous claim that he has a good relationship with Chairman Kim and that he prevented a war with North Korea.

President Trump said, "I have a good relationship with Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea. There was no war." He also recalled that his relationship with North Korea was at its worst early in his term.

In response, Biden sarcastically commented on the good relationship mentioned by President Trump, saying, "We had a good relationship before Hitler invaded Europe."
