[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The National Police Agency announced on the 19th that it will hold the '2020 International Symposium on Cybercrime Response (ISCR)' online from the 19th to the 30th of this month.
ISCR is a global-scale international conference on cybercrime that the National Police Agency has hosted annually since 2000. It aims to establish a practical international cooperation and collaboration framework among law enforcement agencies, international organizations, private companies, and civil society across countries to respond swiftly to cross-border cyber threats.
This year, reflecting the COVID-19 pandemic and the advent of the contactless era, the symposium will be held entirely online. The symposium website (https://iscr.cyber.go.kr) opened at 6 a.m. today.
President Moon Jae-in, in a congratulatory message, stated, "Daily life in cyberspace, including telecommuting, remote meetings, and online education, is expanding," adding, "I hope this opens an era where humanity enjoys a safer cyber daily life, and the Korean government will continue to devote efforts to international cooperation against cybercrime."
Kim Chang-ryong, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, emphasized in his welcoming address, "Various crimes are spreading across borders at a very rapid pace," and added, "To resolve this, law enforcement agencies, international organizations, private companies, and civil society from each country must all join forces."
