Obibrew Leads in Creating a Corporate Culture Embracing Diversity... Launches Committee

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] OB Beer announced on the 12th that it has launched the ‘Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Committee’ to strengthen a corporate culture that respects diversity and inclusion.

The D&I Committee plans to engage in various activities such as developing policies and programs to create a corporate culture where all members of the organization are respected regardless of individual gender, age, race, background, or characteristics.

The D&I Committee consists of a total of 26 employees across all departments including sales, production, marketing, and human resources, with President Bae Ha-jun and Vice President of HR Jeong Young-tae jointly serving as co-chairs.

Every two months, the D&I Committee will discuss topics such as ▲respect for diversity ▲minimizing bias ▲inclusive culture ▲best practices overseas ▲generational differences, and establish concrete action plans aligned with the values of diversity and inclusion. Proposals and implementation plans from the committee will be regularly reported to the co-chairs for progress review.

At OB Beer, employees of various nationalities including Korea, Belgium, Brazil, the United States, China, and India work together. The proportion of female executives at headquarters reaches about 30%, and the company regularly holds an internal event called the ‘Women’s Leadership Forum’ to strengthen the leadership capabilities of female employees. Additionally, the horizontal work environment is characterized by top executives, including the president, working at desks without partitions, just like regular employees.

An OB Beer official stated, “Diversity and inclusion are important values required for corporate innovation and growth,” adding, “We expect the D&I Committee to contribute to creating an advanced organizational culture by reflecting the diverse voices of members.”

Meanwhile, OB Beer was selected as a ‘Family-Friendly Certified Company’ by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2019 in recognition of its exemplary operation of family-friendly systems for work-life balance. Also, last August, it was selected as one of the ‘Top 100 Most Attractive Employers in 2020’ in a survey conducted by HR consulting firm Universum targeting over 4,400 students from 49 universities nationwide.
