[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Kim Geunsik, the head of the People Power Party's Songpa-byeong district committee in Seoul, pointed out on the 6th that "there is a formula for resistance when false progressives are cornered," targeting ruling party figures.
On the same day, Professor Kim shared an article on his Facebook page about Park Beomgye, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticizing former People Power Party lawmaker Min Kyungwook, who recently staged a solo protest at the White House. He made this comment in response to some ruling party lawmakers, including Park, defending Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha by saying "opposition figures also traveled abroad" amid controversy over Kang's spouse's trip to the United States.
Professor Kim said, "At first, they deny the facts; when the facts come out, they shield themselves by saying no laws were broken; if indicted on criminal charges, they loudly claim they will prove their innocence in court; if convicted, they insist it is a conspiracy by political prosecutors and the judiciary." He added, "Cho Kuk, Yoon Mee-hyang, Choo Mi-ae, Kim Kyung-soo, Lee Jae-myung, and Han Myeong-sook are masters of this formula."
He continued, "There is an even simpler formula: when obvious wrongdoing is revealed, they attack by deflecting with 'Was I the only one? You all did the same thing too.'"
Kim targeted Park, saying, "Does attacking Representative Min make Professor Lee (Foreign Minister Kang's husband) going to the U.S. not a problem? Why bring up someone else when pointing out the fault of the minister's spouse? Such a pathetic attack." He added, "Still, Representative Min went to the U.S. for public action in his own way. Professor Lee leisurely went on a yacht shopping and yacht cruising trip to the U.S. during the COVID crisis."
He then said, "If you did wrong, just apologize cleanly. Why drag others in like a remora?" and "That doesn't mean your wrongdoing disappears."
