What Are the 3 New Home Appliances to Reduce Chuseok Housework? Samsung Electronics, 'Bespoke' Dishwasher

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] With Chuseok approaching, so-called new home appliances such as dishwashers, clothing care devices, and robot vacuum cleaners that reduce housework are gaining popularity.

According to the industry on the 30th, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics recently launched dishwashers optimized for Korean eating habits. Samsung Electronics' Bespoke dishwasher can generously accommodate Korean-style tableware such as concave rice bowls and soup bowls.

It implements 'three-dimensional water jets' with four washing wings and cleans powerfully without blind spots. It is equipped with a 'steam soaking' function that thoroughly washes off burnt rice grains and seasonings. To cater to Korean consumers sensitive to hygiene, it adopts a direct water supply method that provides fresh water every time it washes, and uses high-temperature water at 75 degrees Celsius to enable 'sterilization washing.'

LG Electronics' DIOS dishwasher is equipped with TrueSteam made by boiling water at 100 degrees Celsius, capable of removing 13 types of bacteria and viruses including food poisoning bacteria. It creates three-dimensional water jets with multiple outlets including tornado washing wings. This helps clean dishes quickly and thoroughly. The X-shaped tornado washing at the bottom of the dishwasher alternates rotation clockwise and counterclockwise to remove even grease.

Samsung Electronics' clothing care device, the 'AirDresser,' applies a four-stage cleaning method of air, steam, drying, and purification. It features 'Jet Air' that removes fine dust without vibration or noise concerns, a 'fine dust filter' that removes dust shaken off clothes, and a 'UV odor decomposition filter' that eliminates odors difficult to remove with steam alone.

In particular, the fine dust filter removes fine dust shaken off from fabrics so that it does not remain inside the product or flow back into the home, and it can deodorize the smell of Samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) that is hard to eliminate with steam alone. Through the sterilization course, it removes 99.9% of viruses such as influenza, adenovirus, herpes virus, and bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli attached to clothing.

LG Tromm Styler also removes more than 99.99% of major viruses attached to clothes or masks. The company stated that masks (KF94 standard) can maintain filtration performance even after being sterilized at least three times in the virus removal course.

This is based on the result of requesting the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Chonnam National University to verify the performance of the Tromm Styler's 'Virus Hygiene Sterilization' course, which showed that it removed more than 99.99% of viruses such as Influenza A (H3N2 type, flu cause), Adenovirus (ICHV, respiratory disease), Herpes (IBRV, respiratory disease), and Corona (PEDV, porcine epidemic diarrhea). The Styler implements sterilization, deodorization, and wrinkle reduction performance using patented 100-degree TrueSteam technology.

What Are the 3 New Home Appliances to Reduce Chuseok Housework? LG Electronics Mop-Only Robot Vacuum Cleaner 'LG CordZero M9 ThinQ'

Samsung Electronics plans to launch a follow-up model of the premium robot vacuum cleaner 'Powerbot' in the second half of this year. The new product is likely to be a mop-only model. Earlier in July, the company collaborated with domestic robot specialist Everybot to introduce the mop robot vacuum cleaner 'Jetbot Mop' to the U.S. market.

The new product is expected to be equipped with enhanced features such as AI (artificial intelligence) technology that autonomously recognizes house structure and terrain, remote control using the Internet of Things (IoT), and multi-system capabilities.

LG Electronics released the robot vacuum cleaner 'CodeZero M9 ThinQ' equipped with a mop last month, ahead of Samsung Electronics. Unlike previous products, the new product does not have driving wheels. Two mops installed on the bottom rotate and move to clean.

In particular, LG Electronics differentiated the product by installing an 'automatic water supply system' that supplies moisture so the mop does not dry out while operating. It enhanced AI deep learning technology that pre-recognizes up to 700,000 object images. This allows the device to autonomously recognize the house structure and distinguish between living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc., to clean accordingly.
