The comprehensive situation room will be operated from the 30th of this month to the 4th of next month, with the Director of Citizen Safety serving as the head of the situation room, divided into six teams: ▲ Ancestral Grave Visits & Medical ▲ Traffic ▲ Environment & Cleaning ▲ Citizen Safety ▲ Firefighting ▲ Water Supply.
First, the Ancestral Grave Visit Countermeasures Team will focus on inspecting compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines at ancestral grave and enshrinement facilities expected to attract large crowds.
The Medical Countermeasures Team will maintain the infectious disease response system including COVID-19, operate the COVID-19 call center normally during the holiday period, and provide consultation and guidance services to citizens.
Additionally, 25 emergency medical institutions including Chonnam National University Hospital, 12 screening clinics, on-duty medical institutions, and duty pharmacies will be operated to minimize medical service gaps caused by holiday closures.
To provide convenient transportation for citizens, the number of ‘518’ city buses from Gwangju General Bus Terminal to the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery will be increased from 40 to 88 trips per day, and the ‘Jiwon 15’ and ‘Yongjeon 86’ city bus routes will be adjusted to operate via Yeongnak Park.
Furthermore, in cooperation with related organizations such as Gwangju Police Agency and Korea Expressway Corporation, real-time traffic information will be provided, and national road detour signs will be installed at major interchanges expected to be congested to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
To manage disaster safety including COVID-19 and prevent fires, a 24-hour disaster situation management system will be maintained, and ambulances will be pre-positioned in densely populated areas such as those with returning holiday travelers to prepare for emergencies.
In the environment and cleaning sector, 646 street environment cleaners and 1,275 household environment cleaners will work special shifts to ensure a clean environment during the holiday, and 22 mobile illegal waste disposal teams consisting of 46 members will operate to crack down on and handle illegal dumping.
Teams for forest fire prevention measures, environmental pollution monitoring, and water supply complaint mobile response will also be operated.
In addition, traffic information during the holiday period can be checked on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport website, the National Traffic Information Center, and ARS, and the status of emergency medical facilities can be checked in real time on the Emergency Medical Portal.
