[Featured Stock] Webs, Showerhead Using US NSF Certified Filter... Domestic Larvae and American Brain-Eating Amoeba

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Webs, a developer of polymer new materials, is showing strong performance. The news that 'Naegleria fowleri,' known as a brain-eating amoeba, was detected in tap water in a city in Texas, USA, leading to the declaration of a disaster, appears to have influenced the stock price.

As of 10:22 AM on the 28th, Webs was trading at 1,935 KRW, up 14.50% (245 KRW) compared to the previous trading day.

Webs manufactures and sells various high-value-added new materials for automotive interior materials, construction, and leisure, based on polymer new material technology.

The Dr. O Plus Dr. Shower, sold by Webs, is a product made from BPA-free PCTG material, which does not contain the environmental hormone Bisphenol A (BPA). It helps provide clean and safe water through a primary sediment filter that removes fine rust and heavy metals, and a secondary antibacterial ball filter. The spray plate, renewed with a special process, offers a rich and powerful water stream.

The Dr. Shower has various advantages, including a sediment filter certified by the US National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), a chlorine removal ball that removes chlorine from tap water, and an antibacterial ball boasting 99.9% antibacterial effectiveness.

Since the beginning of this year, orders for Webs' Dr. Shower have surged due to issues with larvae found in tap water.

According to major foreign media, on the 26th (local time), Lake Jackson City in Texas declared a disaster, stating that the tap water was contaminated with brain-eating amoeba, and requested emergency response at the state government level. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) test results showed positive reactions for Naegleria fowleri in 3 out of 11 samples.

US health authorities initially warned residents of Lake Jackson not to use tap water for any reason other than flushing toilets.

Mayor Bob Sipple stated in a press release, "We are facing a serious threat to life, health, and property due to contaminated drinking water," and issued a ban on tap water use to 27,000 residents.
