[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Heo Gwon-su, Professor Emeritus of Gyeongsang National University (Department of Classical Chinese Literature), was inaugurated as the new director of Seosan Seowon located in Wonbuk-ri, Gunbuk-myeon, Haman, Gyeongnam, on the 27th.

The inauguration ceremony was held with the attendance of about 20 people, including Jo Geun-je, the governor of Haman County, and Seowon officials. Seosan Seowon was established to honor the loyalty of the Six Martyred Ministers, including Kim Si-seup and Nam Hyo-on, who devoted themselves to Danjong, the early Joseon king who was forcibly dethroned by his uncle Sejo. Along with Chaemi-jeong and Wondong-jae, it was designated as the Haman Six Martyred Ministers Jo Ryeo Historic Site (Gyeongnam Cultural Property No. 590) in 2015.

The new director Heo is recognized as a leading figure in Classical Chinese literature both domestically and internationally and is a native of Beopsu-myeon, Haman. He was a disciple of Yeonmin Lee Ga-won, a pioneer in the field of Classical Chinese literature.

Meanwhile, Haman County is promoting the establishment of the Haman Complex Literature Center, which will serve as both a Chinese character culture center and a literary museum, housing the personal library of the new director Heo, who has devoted his life to Classical Chinese literature and achieved academic distinction.
