Directly Visits Small Businesses, Traditional Markets, Quarantine Sites, and Child Centers to Hear Difficulties
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Acting Mayor Byeon Seong-wan of Busan will visit livelihood sites for three days from the 28th, two days before the Chuseok holiday, until the first day of the holiday on the 30th.
As this Chuseok holiday marks a turning point for the resurgence of COVID-19, the site visits will mainly focus on inspecting the quarantine system.
Acting Mayor Byeon Seong-wan will visit local businesses and traditional markets, welfare facilities such as rehabilitation centers for the disabled and child centers, and will inspect quarantine sites including Busan Medical Center, Yeongnak Park, and public screening clinics. He will also visit temporary isolation facilities to encourage those in self-quarantine spending the holiday alone.
On the first day, the 28th, he will visit Nova International, which produces the eco-friendly sneakers "Allbirds," selected by TIME magazine as the "World's Most Comfortable Shoes." He will encourage the on-site staff who have achieved sales growth through excellent product production despite the difficult global economic situation.
He will then visit Goejeong Alley Market to purchase seasonal goods with Onnuri gift certificates, experience price trends, listen to the difficulties faced by merchants struggling due to economic instability, and offer encouragement.
On the day before the holiday, the 29th, he will visit Busan Medical Center to encourage medical staff working on the front lines of quarantine during the Chuseok holiday, and visit the rehabilitation facility for the disabled "Shinae Rehabilitation Center," the single-parent facility "Haemaji Village," and the child welfare center "Saerom Child Center" to deliver consolation gifts.
He will also visit Yeongnak Park, which is fully closed during the Chuseok holiday and operates a total visitor pre-reservation system until the 29th, to inspect quarantine measures.
On the first day of the holiday, the 30th, he plans to visit a temporary COVID-19 isolation facility and the public screening clinic at Busanjin-gu Health Center, the frontline of quarantine.
Acting Mayor Byeon Seong-wan said, "In preparation for the Chuseok holiday, we have thoroughly established countermeasures in eight major areas including administration, quarantine, disaster prevention, traffic, wildfire prevention, environmental maintenance, water supply, and firefighting."
He also added, "Although the situation is difficult due to COVID-19, I hope everyone strictly follows the quarantine rules so that this holiday does not become an opportunity for the spread of COVID-19."
