Daegu City to Deposit 200,000 Won Each to 113,631 Preschool Children Before Chuseok

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 26th that it will provide 22.3 billion KRW (fully funded by the national government) of 'Special Childcare Support' to all eligible children before Chuseok to alleviate the childcare and parenting burdens of parents caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

'Special Childcare Support' provides 200,000 KRW per child to households with children in elementary school or younger. Children born in September can apply at the Eup/Myeon/Dong Administrative Welfare Center (Community Service Center) within 60 days after their birth date to receive child allowance and special childcare support starting from September.

For elementary and middle school students, as well as out-of-school children, 35.2 billion KRW will be provided through school banking accounts or applications managed by the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education.

The target recipients of 'Special Childcare Support' are 113,631 preschool children receiving child allowance as of September. The 22.3 billion KRW will be automatically deposited into the account under the guardian's name who received the September child allowance, without a separate application process.
