Five Incheon-bound aircraft return to Gimpo due to suspected illegal drone unidentified flying object

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Five aircraft scheduled to land at Incheon International Airport were diverted to nearby Gimpo International Airport due to an unidentified flying object suspected to be an illegal drone.


According to Incheon International Airport Corporation on the 26th, as a result of this incident, Siberia Airlines flight 6271 (with 59 passengers on board), which was scheduled to arrive at Incheon Airport at 2:50 PM, was diverted to Gimpo Airport.


In addition, cargo flights Asiana Airlines 796 and 388, and American Airlines 9189 and 9743 were also diverted to Gimpo Airport. An airport corporation official explained, "This was to ensure safety from the unidentified flying object."
