National Defense Committee Unanimously Adopts Resolution Condemning North Korea

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyung-soo] On the 24th, Minister of National Defense Seo Wook stated at the National Assembly National Defense Committee plenary meeting that the government official who was shot and burned by the North Korean military is "believed to be in the waters."

When Ha Tae-kyung, a member of the People Power Party, asked, "Where is the body?" Minister Seo replied, "It cannot be confirmed at this time," but answered as above.

When Representative Ha asked again, "Are you saying that the North burned the body and threw it into the sea?" Minister Seo said, "Yes."

Minister Seo added, "This is at the intelligence level."

The National Assembly National Defense Committee unanimously adopted a resolution condemning North Korea's act of shooting a citizen in the West Sea, burning the body, and abandoning it.

In the resolution, ruling and opposition members of the National Defense Committee stated, "The National Assembly demands that the government closely cooperate with the United Nations and the international community to share the recognition that North Korea's inhumane acts are a serious threat to peace in Northeast Asia, and to pursue diplomatic efforts in parallel to ensure that North Korea stops and abandons its military provocations."
