The Funeral Ceremony for the Late Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member Park Geum-rae Held Solemnly

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Council announced that the funeral service for the late Assemblyman Park Geum-rae was solemnly held on the morning of the 24th at Nokdong, Goheung-gun, as the chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Council.

The funeral service was held in a calm atmosphere with about 100 attendees including the bereaved family, relatives, fellow council members, and guests, following the introduction of the deceased's footsteps, a eulogy, farewell speeches, and then flower offerings and incense burning.

Chairman Kim Han-jong said in his eulogy, “The late Assemblyman Park Geum-rae was a politician who strived to blossom grassroots democracy and was a figure of admiration and respect with experience and character,” adding, “We will surely keep in mind the great will he held for the future of Jeonnam and the happy lives of its residents.”

The deceased entered the 10th Jeonnam Provincial Council and served as a member of the Agriculture, Forestry, Maritime and Fisheries Committee, the Special Budget and Accounts Committee, and the Special Committee for the Shipbuilding Industry Crisis Countermeasures, leading the development of Jeonnam’s agriculture and fisheries and revitalization of the shipbuilding industry.

Assemblyman Park, who was re-elected, left a pioneering legacy in the 11th Provincial Council as a member of the Economic Tourism and Culture Committee and the Safety Construction and Firefighting Committee, protecting Jeonnam’s economic development and the safety of its residents.

He also served three terms as a member of the Goheung County Council and as chairman of the county council, driving regional development, and was known for always standing on the side of justice and the socially vulnerable, dedicating himself to the local people.

The late Assemblyman Park Geum-rae passed away at the age of 72, having lived together with the local community in Goheung until his final rest, walking a lifelong path of regional development, and was evaluated as having conducted generous and reliable legislative activities with the leadership of a father figure.
