[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Professor Kim Siwook of the Department of Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering, was elected as the 27th Chairperson of the Chosun University Faculty Council.
According to Chosun University on the 24th, Professor Kim ran as the sole candidate and was elected as the new chairperson with the support of 87% of the total voters. The term is two years.
The new Chairperson Kim joined Chosun University as a full-time faculty member of the Department of Environmental Science in 1990 and has served as the Director of the Environmental Research Institute and the Director of the Harmful Algae Control Convergence Technology Center.
He has also been active as an environmental expert in the local community, serving as a member of the Gwangju Regional Industrial Policy Research Association, an investment attraction advisor for Jeollanam-do, and an environmental technology evaluation committee member of the Environmental Management Corporation. From 2012, he served as the Director of Planning and Coordination at Chosun University for two years, addressing pressing university issues.
New Chairperson Kim Siwook said, “Based on strengthening faculty authority and improving faculty rights, I will faithfully carry out the entrusted duties to build a close cooperative relationship with the university administration, wisely resolve conflicts, and suggest directions for university development.”
