[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 24th that it will fully convert the '9th Bitgoeul Handmade Fair' into a non-face-to-face online exhibition and sale to support various market channels for small business owners and self-employed people in the local craft sector.
This Bitgoeul Handmade Fair, being held during the Chuseok holiday for the first time since the outbreak of COVID-19, will be hosted as an online platform digital fair so that people can send local craft products as Chuseok gifts instead of visiting their hometowns.
The fair will be held from the 28th to November 30th on the shopping mall SSG.com, exhibiting and selling 45 workshops and about 500 craft products (leather, metal, ceramics, wood/lacquer, textiles, paper, etc.) selected through a contest and screening targeting local craft artists.
In addition, Gwangju City will link and expose the fair on easily accessible platforms for consumers such as Naver, 11st, Auction, and Gmarket, and support online marketing through social network services (SNS) such as Facebook, Instagram, and blogs.
Kim Jun-young, Director of the City’s Culture, Tourism and Sports Office, said, “We hope this event will help increase sales for local craft small business owners,” and added, “We plan to continuously carry out non-face-to-face online education and support projects for local craft artists and workshops to enter and advance into the US Amazon marketplace.”
