Yongin City Creates Parking Lot on Vacant Land... Secures 66 Spaces

[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, created three free temporary parking lots on the vacant lots in Yubang-dong, Cheoin-gu, and Jung-dong, Giheung-gu on the 24th to alleviate parking difficulties in residential and commercial areas.

The parking lots were established on approximately 1,800㎡ (26 spaces) around 78-22 Yubang-dong, 832.7㎡ (18 spaces) around 1109-1 Jung-dong, Giheung-gu, and 993.5㎡ (22 spaces) around 1110-5 Jung-dong.

A total of 66 vehicles can be parked in these three parking lots.

The creation of temporary parking lots, a system that utilizes vacant land in residential or commercial areas as parking lots with the consent of the landowners, has the advantage of providing direct benefits to local residents and improving the quality of the parking environment.

Yongin City persuaded landowners to obtain consent for use and carried out pavement work on the ground.

According to the Local Tax Act, landowners are granted a full exemption of property tax on the land during the lease period.

A city official said, "We expect that the creation of temporary parking lots will greatly help alleviate parking difficulties in this area," and urged, "Those who own land but do not have immediate plans to use it should take an interest and contact the city."

Meanwhile, the city has established and operates 17 temporary public parking lots by signing free lease contracts for more than one year with landowners, utilizing idle land in areas with parking demand.
