Geumcheon-gu Prepares Comprehensive Plan for a Safe and Warm Chuseok Holiday

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will implement the ‘2020 Chuseok Comprehensive Measures’ from the 25th to October 5th to ensure that residents can spend a comfortable and safe Chuseok holiday.

The district will focus on six key areas in the comprehensive Chuseok measures: ▲Safety measures ▲Traffic measures ▲Sharing culture ▲Resolving residents’ inconveniences ▲Price stabilization ▲Establishment of public service discipline.

First, the district has formed 10 functional task forces including the comprehensive situation room, flood and typhoon countermeasures team, and cleaning countermeasures team, with a total of about 300 personnel working 24-hour shifts to minimize residents’ inconveniences during the holiday by establishing an emergency response system.

In particular, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will also operate during the Chuseok holiday period. A total of 55 people, 11 per day, will work in two shifts day and night, and in case of confirmed cases, they will conduct epidemiological investigations, manage self-quarantined individuals, provide telephone consultations, and make every effort to prevent infectious diseases during the Chuseok holiday. During the same period, the screening clinic will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Additionally, to minimize residents’ damage due to medical service gaps, the district will operate an ‘Emergency Medical Treatment Situation Room,’ provide ‘information on hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies open during the holiday,’ receive and handle ‘emergency medical accident complaints,’ and maintain an emergency medical response system with the Fire and Disaster Headquarters (119) and Seoul City.

Information on medical institutions and pharmacy operating hours available during the holiday can be checked through the 119 Ambulance Situation Management Center, 120 Dasan Call Center, emergency medical information website and smartphone application, and the Geumcheon-gu Office website.

Furthermore, to prevent safety accidents during the Chuseok holiday, the district will conduct special facility inspections targeting multi-use facilities, large construction sites, disaster-vulnerable facilities, sports facilities, and traditional markets, and operate a 24-hour flood control situation room to prepare for sudden heavy rain.

In addition, through the sewage mobile team, emergency recovery mobile unit, and park and green space mobile team, the district plans to promptly restore and respond without disruption even in emergencies.

Meanwhile, due to the closure of the metropolitan landfill site and garbage collection agencies during the Chuseok holiday, garbage will not be collected from September 29 to October 2 in the ‘Mon, Wed, Fri’ areas, and from September 30 to October 4 in the ‘Sun, Tue, Thu’ areas.

Accordingly, sanitation workers will be on emergency duty together with the cleaning countermeasures team, and cleaning agencies will inspect major roads and areas with large amounts of garbage to collect household waste.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “During this difficult time due to COVID-19, we will make thorough preparations and respond so that residents can have a safe and warm Chuseok holiday,” and added, “We ask residents to strictly follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines during the Chuseok holiday for the safety of themselves and their families.”
