10 Walking Courses with Tourist Attractions and Stories Prepared... Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, Ahyeon-dong Hill Path, Mapo Hangang Trail, Haneul Sunset Trail, Maebong Sangam Trail, etc.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) has selected the ‘Top 10 Walkable Paths in Mapo’.
This selection of ‘Walkable Paths’ was promoted to actively publicize walking tourism courses that combine Mapo’s culture, tourism, history, and nature not only to residents but also to domestic and international tourists in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era, aiming to revitalize local tourism and the regional economy.
The selected courses include routes with attractive walking environments, routes with tourism elements and Mapo’s stories, routes popular among residents outside Mapo-gu as well, and routes that allow walking throughout the entire district without concentration in specific areas, having gone through preliminary and final selection processes.
The ‘Top 10 Walkable Paths’ are ▲‘Gyeongui Line Forest Trail,’ where various local cultural spaces are scattered ▲‘Ahyeon-dong Hill Path,’ where you can see the city’s changes and filming locations of the movie Parasite ▲‘Mapo Naru-gil,’ reflecting on the prosperous days of Mapo Naru ▲‘Mapo Hangang-gil,’ which holds history such as Yanghwajin along the Han River ▲‘Wow! Hongdae-gil,’ where you can experience Wausan Mountain and Hongdae street culture ▲‘Mangwon Hangang-gil,’ experiencing both the Han River path and Mangwon-dong alleys ▲‘Seongmisan Neighborhood Path,’ walking through Seongmisan Village and surrounding tourist spots ▲‘Streamside Han River Path,’ a linear walking trail formed along a stream ▲‘Sky Sunset Path,’ greeted by parks and metasequoia tree-lined streets ▲and ‘Maebong Sangam-gil,’ which utilizes the characteristics of the Culture Depot and DMC.
These routes, imbued with Mapo’s history and tourism while embracing the often overlooked charms of local corners, are expected to become beloved tourist courses for residents and visitors alike.
The district plans to publish guide materials (in Korean and English) for active use of the ‘Top 10 Walkable Paths in Mapo,’ feature them in travel magazines, and promote them through Mapo-gu’s official SNS channels.
Additionally, signboards and other guides will be installed on-site to enhance convenience and satisfaction for walking tourists, and walking events will be held to collect residents’ opinions regarding the ‘Walkable Paths.’
Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “The ‘Top 10 Walkable Paths in Mapo’ were planned not just as simple walking courses but to provide more meaningful and enjoyable walks by selecting routes where you can feel Mapo’s tourist attractions and stories,” adding, “In the untact era, I hope many people can feel some relaxation through ‘walking,’ which is the easiest way to relieve stress.”
