Energy Gong to Hold RE100 YouTube Briefing on the 24th


[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Energy Agency announced on the 23rd that it will hold the 'RE1000 (Renewable Energy 100%) Online Briefing Session' on the Korea Energy Agency YouTube channel at 2 p.m. on the 24th.


This briefing session will be broadcast live online in real time in accordance with the Level 2 social distancing measures due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).


RE100 is a campaign targeting high electricity-consuming companies using more than 100 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually, aiming to convert 100% of their electricity consumption to renewable energy by 2050. Participating companies are required to prepare an annual report detailing their renewable energy usage implementation plans.


The briefing session will proceed in the order of ▲RE100 implementation support measures ▲Certificate trading market (Energy Agency) ▲Green premium (Korea Electric Power Corporation) ▲Third-party power purchase agreement (PPA) operation plan (KEPCO) ▲Global RE100 renewable energy usage recognition standards (CDP Committee) presentations, followed by a Q&A session with participating companies.


Lee Sang-hoon, Director of the New and Renewable Energy Center at the Energy Agency, said, "Through this briefing session, we expect to enhance domestic companies' understanding of RE100 and encourage active participation and interest," adding, "We will collect opinions from participating companies and officially implement RE100 starting next year."
