Changwon City Designates This Year's Specialties: 'Junam Yeonneopbap' and 'Beotkkot Galbi'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 23rd that the '2020 Changwon City Specialty Designation Review Committee' designated Junam Yeonnipbap (lotus leaf rice) and Cherry Blossom Galbi as this year's specialties.

The city received applications from producers of excellent agricultural, livestock, fishery products, industrial products, and crafts produced within the jurisdiction from the 11th to the 25th of last month and conducted on-site inspections in advance. Four products that passed various criteria such as production and shipment conditions and quality management status were reviewed and finally selected.

The city expects that widely promoting the excellence of the designated specialty products, strengthening quality and competitiveness, and supporting publicity to stimulate consumption will help revitalize the local economy.

Once designated as specialties, the products receive a certificate, which increases trust and recognition as representative products of Changwon by differentiating them from products of other regions. Additionally, support is provided for packaging production costs and publicity.

Jo Young-jin, the 1st Deputy Mayor of Changwon City, said, "In these difficult times for small business owners due to COVID-19, we hope that by highlighting the characteristics of products imbued with the color of Changwon and differentiating quality, they can overcome hardships," and added, "We will continue to pay attention and provide unwavering support so that these products can grow into representative brands of Changwon City."
