Talent Sharing Project in Collaboration with Companies
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City announced on the 23rd that it conducted basic volunteer training for the heads and general managers of 33 talent volunteer groups composed of POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks employees at the POSCO Nanum School Education Center.
The basic training, which was first held on the 19th of last month, was temporarily suspended due to COVID-19 but resumed again on the 22nd and 23rd.
The training was conducted as part of a talent-sharing project with companies to promote volunteerism and raise civic awareness through competency education, as well as to encourage registration and participation on the volunteer portal site.
The city plans to continue providing specialized technical training and communication opportunities for each volunteer group's talent field to sustain volunteer work and good deeds for neighbors in need.
Kim Jong-ho, Director of the Resident Welfare Division, said, “We will do our best to develop and operate educational programs in cooperation with companies and public-private sectors to carry out customized volunteer activities befitting a volunteer city and to attract the National Volunteer Training Center.”
Meanwhile, as of the end of last month, 71,000 volunteers from 862 organizations (47.1% of Gwangyang City's population) are registered and active, playing a significant role as happiness ambassadors by carrying out volunteer activities throughout the region.
