Gwangju Seo-gu Council Delivers Gifts to Social Welfare Facilities for Chuseok

This event was promoted to create a warm social community that shares with neighbors in need ahead of Chuseok, the traditional Korean holiday.

Every year, the council visited institutions to listen to the concerns of related personnel and held meetings, but this year, to prevent the spread and recurrence of COVID-19, they replaced visits with delivering warm consolation gifts.

Kim Taeyoung, chairman of the Seo-gu Council, said, “Recently, the number of neighbors in need who are socially marginalized due to COVID-19 is increasing. As the representative institution of the district residents, the Seo-gu Council is taking the lead in looking after and helping disadvantaged neighbors during Chuseok, the traditional ethnic holiday.”

He added, “In the future, we will continue to communicate so that neighbors in need can overcome hardships with warm interest and love, share their difficulties and concerns together, and actively reflect these in future social welfare policies through legislative activities.”
