[Asia Economy (Namyangju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kyungbok University began accepting applications for the '2021 Academic Year Early Admission Round 1' from the 23rd.
Kyungbok University will select 2,094 students (including 452 beyond the quota) from 24 departments in this early admission, which runs until the 13th of next month.
This accounts for 92.5% of the total selection of 2,263 students (including those beyond the quota).
By admission type, within the quota, 1,642 students will be selected: 81 through the general admission, 1,293 through the general high school special admission, 153 through the specialized high school special admission, 25 through the talent special admission, and 90 through the university's own admission (socially disadvantaged and regionally disadvantaged candidates).
Additionally, 452 students will be recruited through special admissions beyond the quota: 235 graduates from junior colleges or higher, 99 through balanced opportunity selection, and 118 pure foreign students.
The selection methods are as follows: for nursing and health-related departments and early childhood education, 80% of the student record and 20% interview; for the aviation service department, 40% student record and 60% interview; for performing arts and practical music departments, 20% student record and 80% practical skills; and for other departments, 70% student record, 10% attendance, and 20% interview are reflected.
Student record grades are calculated based on the reflected subjects of the applied department from the first semester of the first year to the first semester of the third year, and attendance only considers unexcused absences.
Kyungbok University will conduct AI interviews, the first nationwide university to introduce this, from the 15th to the 20th of next month. All applicants must participate. AI interviews can be taken individually on personal PCs at any preferred time and place during the interview period.
The practical exam will be held on the 30th of next month, and successful candidates will be announced on November 13th.
Kyungbok University achieved the highest employment rate among metropolitan area universities (with over 2,000 graduates) for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019, according to the Ministry of Education. Additionally, it was selected as an 'Autonomous Improvement University' in the 2018 Ministry of Education Basic University Competency Diagnosis Evaluation, recognized as a university with excellent educational capabilities.
Based on this, Kyungbok University has integrated and reorganized its existing IT-related departments into the AI and Software Convergence Department to nurture creative convergence talents leading the 4th Industrial Revolution, focusing university capabilities on core fields such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), Big Data, IoT (Internet of Things), and Information Security. Furthermore, the Distribution Management and Tax Accounting departments have been reorganized into the AI Service Management Department, divided into AI Distribution Major and Fintech Accounting Major, seeking to transform into departments leading the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Kyungbok University’s students’ public transportation access will also rapidly improve with the extension opening of Seoul Subway Line 4 in May next year.
