[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Group is conducting an SNS campaign to introduce eco-friendly technologies in everyday life. Eco-friendly gifts will be given by lottery to citizens who participate in the campaign.
From the 23rd, Hanwha Group will showcase one eco-friendly technology each week for 8 weeks through the Hanwha Group Instagram account that can reduce carbon footprints. Technologies that can be practiced in daily life, such as ‘lowering indoor lighting brightness,’ ‘proper waste separation,’ and ‘using lunch boxes,’ will be introduced.
Those who upload a certification photo proving they have practiced the introduced eco-friendly technology on their own Instagram account and add related hashtags (#IAmCarbonFootprintEraser, #SustainableHanwha) will be entered into a weekly drawing where 3 people will be selected to receive eco-friendly gifts such as shampoo bars, bamboo toothbrushes, solid toothpaste, and vacuum tumblers.
The coronavirus that shook the world, unprecedentedly long typhoons and heavy rains have increased concerns and interest in the future and the environment more than ever. In this social atmosphere, this campaign was planned with the purpose of introducing eco-friendly technologies in daily life that we can all practice to create a sustainable tomorrow.
The carbon footprint is a concept first proposed in 2006 by the UK Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST). It originated from indicating the total amount of carbon dioxide generated during the production and consumption of products as a carbon footprint. The carbon footprint is expressed either by the weight of the carbon dioxide emitted or by converting the amount of carbon dioxide that can be reduced through actual photosynthesis into the number of trees. According to data from the UK scientific journal ‘Nature’ and the International Energy Agency (IEA), the carbon footprint left by fossil fuels and plastic waste reaches as much as 34.8 billion tons annually.
Hanwha Group is focusing on infinite eco-friendly energy resources that provide fundamental solutions to the energy problems humanity faces. Based on world-class advanced technology and production capacity, it is leading the renewable energy market and accelerating the development of green hydrogen energy technology and eco-friendly plastic technology.
