[Asia Economy (Uijeongbu) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Banwol-Sihwa National Industrial Complex in Gyeonggi Province is being transformed into an intelligent low-carbon green industrial complex.
On the 23rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will promote the 'Gyeonggi-do-type Industrial Complex Green New Deal' project to turn the Banwol-Sihwa Industrial Complex, centered on carbon energy, into a low-carbon eco-friendly industrial complex in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the cities of Ansan and Siheung.
The Industrial Complex Green New Deal project aims to create an intelligent low-carbon industrial complex centered on renewable energy by applying convergence and fusion technologies such as smart demand management, energy self-sufficiency and efficiency improvement, and distributed power generation to the aging industrial complexes to overcome prolonged economic recession and climate change crises in the 'post-COVID-19' era.
Accordingly, a total of 24 billion KRW will be invested in the Banwol-Sihwa Industrial Complex from next year until 2023, including 20 billion KRW from the central government, 2 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 2 billion KRW from the city governments.
The province will first invest 5.7 billion KRW to distribute a system that optimizes energy demand and supply within the industrial complex based on artificial intelligence (AI).
Additionally, 4.3 billion KRW will be invested to expand infrastructure such as the 'e-Green Button Service' that manages companies' real-time energy usage data and 'smart meters.'
Furthermore, 14 billion KRW will be spent to build energy self-sufficiency and efficiency improvement infrastructure, including solar power generation facilities on factory roofs, eco-friendly hydrogen charging stations, electric vehicle charging facilities, and renewable energy power generation facilities for public institutions.
The province expects this project to lead the transition to a low-carbon eco-friendly economic system, actively respond to climate change, and contribute to industrial promotion and job creation.
On July 27, Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung said at the 'Gyeonggi-do-type New Deal Policy Promotion Team Plaque Ceremony,' "The Gyeonggi-do-type New Deal policy is a primer to realize a fair world where humans are respected as humans and live hand in hand," and promised, "Together with the government's three major New Deal policies, we will create a model case."
