Establishment of Legal and Labor Advisory Services
Self-Checkout Installation, Early Card Payment During Chuseok Period
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Emart24 will fully cover the cost of property and cash theft insurance for all franchise stores.
Emart24 announced on the 23rd that it has prepared an additional win-win support plan based on this content.
Starting from November, Emart24 franchise stores will be able to receive compensation for interior·product losses caused by fire, typhoons, store damage, and cash theft by outsiders.
Emart24 explained, "We decided to fully support the insurance costs to prepare for any possible incidents or accidents that may occur while franchise stores operate their businesses," adding, "Franchise stores will not only receive actual compensation when incidents occur but also feel psychological stability in daily operations."
A legal and labor advisory service available to all franchise stores will also be newly established. Emart24 plans to launch a service in November that allows franchise stores to receive consultations from law firms on store operation-related legal matters such as labor and lease issues, as well as personal legal advice.
Support measures tailored to the new needs of franchise stores due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have also been prepared.
In response to the increasing number of customers preferring non-face-to-face transactions due to COVID-19, Emart24 plans to sequentially install self-checkout counters at all stores.
With one staffed checkout counter and one self-checkout counter installed in each store, customers will be able to choose their preferred payment method (staffed or non-face-to-face self-service), and it is expected to improve checkout efficiency during peak times.
In fact, an analysis of checkout usage at about 1,600 franchise stores currently operating self-checkout counters showed that the average number of users per self-checkout counter increased 3.4 times compared to the same period last year over the recent approximately four months (June 1 to September 20).
Operating funds will also be advanced to secure franchise store liquidity during the Chuseok holiday period. Since credit card (hereafter, card) payment settlements will not be deposited to franchise stores during the Chuseok holiday, Emart24 has prepared 10 billion KRW for franchise stores that temporarily need advance operating funds. It also plans to support franchise stores with 55,000 masks and disinfectants.
Last year, Emart24 established the Win-Win Cooperation Adjustment Committee to expand communication channels with franchise stores. This is intended to broaden communication with franchise stores as a new channel following the regular consultation bodies operated by the Store Owners’ Council and headquarters.
