Demands for Osiria Tourist Complex Traffic Measures and New Sewage Treatment Plant Construction
On the afternoon of the 22nd, Oh Gyuseok, the mayor of Gijang County, and Gijang County officials paid a protest visit to Busan Urban Corporation. Gijang County demanded traffic measures for the Osiria tourist complex and the installation of a sewage treatment plant.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] On the 22nd at 3 p.m., Busan's Gijang-gun visited Busan Urban Corporation to urge the corporation to resolve Gijang-gun's pending issues caused by the construction, including the establishment of traffic measures for the Osiria Tourist Complex.
The demands from Gijang-gun included the installation of a sewage treatment plant, construction of a bypass road in Ilgwang New Town, complete replacement of park and green space facilities, and the creation of a detention pond park within Ilgwang New Town.
Since the full-scale move-in to Ilgwang New Town began in February this year and the opening of IKEA in the Osiria Tourist Complex, Gijang-gun has been suffering from a surge in traffic congestion complaints.
Accordingly, Gijang-gun has continuously requested Busan Urban Corporation to fundamentally resolve traffic congestion in Ilgwang New Town and the Osiria Tourist Complex by opening a bypass road in Ilgwang New Town and dispersing traffic volume through plans such as connecting the Mandeok-Centum urban expressway (deep tunnel) to the Osiria Tourist Complex, as well as establishing traffic flow measures.
Regarding Ilgwang New Town, they also proposed ▲ installation of soundproof tunnels or walls to block traffic noise at Samsung Underpass, ▲ prompt implementation of a bypass road and traffic system improvement at Gyori Samgeori intersection, and ▲ expansion of Bansong-ro (from Gyori Samgeori to the intersection in front of Dongyang Garden) to six lanes. For the Osiria Tourist Complex, they proposed ▲ construction of a new sewage treatment plant and ▲ creation of a public parking lot on the site in front of Osiria Station on the Donghae Line.
They also actively requested the creation, maintenance, and improvement of parks and facilities within Ilgwang New Town. Despite being a premium and eco-friendly new town housing about 10,000 households and approximately 30,000 residents, they requested overall improvements regarding the planting of broomcorn millet on slopes that spoil the town’s aesthetics and the lack of trees above the park’s ecological tunnel.
Since January, restoration of damaged sidewalk blocks within Ilgwang New Town has been underway following strong requests from Gijang-gun.
For a pleasant living environment for residents, they requested the creation of two detention ponds in Ilgwang New Town as neighborhood parks, installation of connecting pathways to Samsung Forest Park, removal of broomcorn millet on park slopes followed by tree planting, additional planting of large evergreen trees above the park’s ecological tunnel, and installation of additional facilities such as restrooms, bus stops, shade shelters, and CCTV to create a safe and high-quality green space.
Gijang-gun also requested early payment of the development charge of approximately 16.9 billion won imposed on Busan Urban Corporation in July for the Ilgwang District urban development project.
Oh Gyu-seok, head of Gijang-gun, stated, “Due to traffic congestion caused by the Osiria Tourist Complex, residents cannot go outside on weekends. Busan Urban Corporation must promptly prepare traffic measures for the Osiria Tourist Complex.”
