According to Daegu City on the 22nd, as of midnight on that day, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Daegu remained at 7,125, the same as the previous day. It has been a week since Daegu recorded zero new confirmed cases, including imported cases, in a single day, last occurring on the 15th.
Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, Daegu reported 2 new confirmed cases each day from the 17th to the 20th, and 1 case on the 21st. In particular, a full investigation of passengers related to a taxi driver in his 70s who tested positive on the 18th is underway, and the results are being closely watched.
The taxi driver showed COVID-19 symptoms on the 7th but was found to have continued taxi operations until the 11th. Health authorities have identified a list of 147 passengers who used this taxi from August 24 to September 11 and are encouraging them to undergo diagnostic testing.
Meanwhile, in Gyeongbuk Province, confirmed cases among residents continue in Pohang and Gyeongju cities. On the 21st, 1 additional case was reported in Gyeongju and 3 in Pohang, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Gyeongbuk as of midnight on the 22nd to 1,474.
