Nearly 20 Years of Visiting and Supporting Socially Vulnerable Groups Including the Underprivileged
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 22nd, Kim Yongho, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly, announced that on the 21st, he visited elderly welfare facilities "Haengbokhan Jip," "Sarangui Jip," and "Sarangdungji" located in Gangjin-gun, as well as the Jeonnam Association for the Disabled Gangjin Branch, to encourage the facility staff through consolation activities.
Assemblyman Kim Yongho delivered consolation gifts such as fruits purchased at the Gangjin-gun traditional market, carefully checked with the staff whether there was any shortage of COVID-19 prevention supplies, and listened to the difficulties faced by the staff.
Assemblyman Kim said, "It is regrettable that due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, I could not visit each elderly person using and living in the facilities to check on their well-being and exchange kind words," adding, "COVID-19 has created a new custom even in consolation activities," and pledged to do his best to keep Gangjin-gun safe from COVID-19.
Amid social distancing measures such as the spread of grave mowing proxy services and refraining from hometown visits due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, Assemblyman Kim said, "Although families cannot be together during Hangawi, one of our nation's biggest holidays, I hope that everyone feels close in heart and has a warm Hangawi."
He also suggested, "Since South Korea is a strong IT nation, let's use smartphones and video calls to ease the sadness."
Meanwhile, according to social welfare facility officials, despite his busy legislative activities, Assemblyman Kim has consistently continued facility visits and consolation activities for nearly 20 years since his time as a county council member.
