Droplet-blocking masks distributed with 5 per person to 457,330 residents... Urging mask-wearing and social distancing to prevent COVID-19 resurgence

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will distribute a total of 2.29 million KF-AD masks, 5 masks per person, to all residents living in the area.

The mask distribution aims to promote the mandatory mask-wearing policy under Social Distancing Level 2, proactively respond to the special quarantine period during the Chuseok holiday, and raise awareness of personal quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The masks being distributed this time are droplet-blocking masks (KF-AD), which block droplets to prevent infection while being lightweight and breathable, making them suitable for everyday use.

The district plans to distribute a total of approximately 2.29 million masks, 5 per person, to all 457,330 residents of Gangdong-gu.

The distribution period is from September 23 to 29, during which masks will be delivered directly to each household. The principle is non-face-to-face doorstep delivery, strictly adhering to quarantine rules such as temperature checks, wearing health masks and sanitary gloves, and using hand sanitizer to prepare for any unforeseen situations.

Households that do not receive masks during this period can have one household member visit the local community service center with their ID card by October 8 to collect the masks.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, “The government views the special quarantine period during Chuseok as a turning point in deciding the reemergence of COVID-19 and the transition to daily quarantine. We ask all residents to comply with personal quarantine rules such as wearing masks and to stay home as much as possible during the Chuseok holiday, actively participating in social distancing.”
