Mokpo City Implements Full Taxi Fare Management System, Seeking Solutions to Labor-Management 'Conflict'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] The Mokpo City Council (Chairman Park Changsoo) announced that it will hold a "Discussion on Measures to Cooperate in the Implementation of the Mokpo City Full Amount Management System" on the 22nd.

The taxi full amount management system (full management system of transportation revenue) is a system in which taxi drivers deposit the entire transportation revenue of the day to the company, and the company pays the drivers a fixed salary.

It was fully implemented from January this year by revising the Passenger Transport Service Act as a countermeasure to problems of the existing deposit system, such as long working hours and decline in service quality.

However, conflicts between labor and management over the implementation of the taxi full amount management system are intensifying in each region and workplace.

This discussion will be chaired by Mokpo City Council member Baek Donggyu, and will discuss solutions for forming a consultative body among labor, management, city, and council through a survey on the labor environment of taxi workers in Jeonnam region following the implementation of the taxi full amount management system, presentations of best practices, and discussions.

The discussion will be held at 3 p.m. on the 22nd in the small conference room of the Mokpo City Council, hosted by the Mokpo City Council and organized by the Jeonnam Labor Rights Center.
