Architecture Academy Season 2 Held... "The Best Contemporary Architects Gathered in One Place" De Rotterdam in the Netherlands, designed by Rem Koolhaas

[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] The 'Architecture Academy - Season 2,' where you can meet the masters of modern architecture and South Korea's top architects in one place, is set to take place. This lecture series, organized by Seoul Auction and the cultural planning group Art Plus, will be held at the Seoul Auction Gangnam Center every other Tuesday evening starting from the 22nd, spanning a total of eight sessions.

Like Season 1, Architecture Academy Season 2 is themed 'Maestro and My Architecture,' under which South Korea's leading mid-career architects introduce the philosophies and architectural worlds of the great maestro architects who have left a lasting mark on architectural history, accompanied by their works. In each lecture, the masters' architectural and philosophical art worlds, which clearly reveal their unique styles, are presented by matching them with Korean architects who directly lecture on how these influences are reflected and developed in their own buildings. It is a time to see and learn about the philosophies and works of masters who have shaped modern architectural history, as well as South Korea's beautiful architecture, discovering a unique pleasure in reading architecture together with architects.

The first lecture features Belgian architect Laurent Pereira and architect Seonghee Choi, who will lecture on French architect Jean Nouvel and then introduce their own works, including the Jang Uk-jin Museum in Yangju City. The second lecture (October 6) will have architect Yeong Cheon Lee discussing Rem Koolhaas, the Dutch architect who designed the Leeum Museum, along with his own architecture. Following this, architect Jureong Kim will lecture on Sir Norman Foster, the UK's national architect, while architect Kyungguk Woo will discuss Frank Lloyd Wright, a pioneer of American modernist architecture. Architect Seongeun Jeon will introduce the works of ?lvaro Siza Vieira, a representative Portuguese architect, alongside her own architecture. Architect Somin Kim will lecture on Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who designed the Seoul Auction Gangnam Center where the Architecture Academy is held, and architect Hyunseok Kang will introduce the works of the world-renowned Swiss architectural group Herzog & de Meuron. The final lecture of Season 2 will be given by architect Jitaek Lim, who will introduce Egon Eiermann, one of the most outstanding German architects of the late 20th century.

The Seoul Auction Gangnam Center, where the academy is held, is an eight-story building above ground and five stories underground, consisting of an auction hall, exhibition spaces, and an academy hall. To alleviate concerns about COVID-19, the venue plans to maintain the safest possible quarantine environment.
