[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Uplus announced on the 20th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hanbul Motors, the official importer of the French automobile brands Peugeot and DS Automobiles, to collaborate in the fields of connected car communication and infotainment.

The two companies will introduce connected car services starting with DS's electric vehicle model 'DS 3 Crossback E-Tense,' scheduled for release on the 21st. This is the first time connected car technology has been introduced in Peugeot and DS brand vehicles globally.

Connected car customers will be able to use real-time traffic information and navigation based on automatic updates through LG Uplus communication services.

Through the upcoming voice recognition service, users will be able to access not only navigation but also phone calls, weather, message checking, guidance to charging stations that support real-time electric vehicle charging, infotainment such as streaming music, and home Internet of Things (IoT) linked services. LG Uplus plans to apply the vehicle 'e-Call (Emergency Call)' system to cars once it is legislated domestically.

Park Sung-yul, Executive Director of LG Uplus Corporate Sales Group 2, said, "This partnership is significant in that it diversifies our connected car service channels through a major domestic imported car distributor. We will strive to continuously expand the connected car market by providing high-quality communication, content, and services."

Dong Geun-tae, Executive Director of Sales Planning at Hanbul Motors, expressed expectations, saying, "We are now able to provide the highest level of EV connected services in the imported automobile industry to Peugeot and DS customers."
