[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 19th, three new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Gangnam-gu.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Gangnam-gu to 259.
First, a resident of Segok-dong tested positive at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center in the morning due to fever symptoms, and residents of Nonhyeon and Samseong-dong, who had contact with previously confirmed Gangnam-gu residents, tested positive as well despite showing no symptoms.
Additionally, related to the cluster infection at Donghun Industrial Development located in Yeoksam-dong, all 65 current employees and 14 recent retirees have been placed under self-quarantine. As of the afternoon of the 19th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases at Donghun Industrial Development has been confirmed as 19, including two Gangnam-gu residents who tested positive the previous day.
Gangnam-gu believes the cluster infection occurred due to counseling work conducted in crowded spaces and is conducting a detailed epidemiological investigation jointly with Seoul city epidemiologists to identify additional contacts.
Jung Soon-gyun, the district mayor, stated, "The quarantine authorities warn that the current period is more dangerous than ever as the spread in the metropolitan area, which determines the overall scale of COVID-19 cases in Korea, has not clearly subsided, and there are increasing cases with unknown infection routes."
