[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyun-jung] On the 17th, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Kim Hyun-soo held a meeting with young female farmers at Sodam Farm located in Mungyeong City in celebration of 'Youth Day.'
At the meeting, about 20 young female farmers attended and discussed with the minister the difficulties young female farmers face when settling and living in agriculture and rural areas.
Minister Kim stated, "In response to the decrease and aging of the farming population as well as changes in conditions due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the future owners of agriculture and rural areas are young female farmers," and revealed plans to foster young farmers. He especially emphasized, "We will spare no necessary support such as farming settlement grants, successor farmer support, and safe residential environment support to ensure young farmers can settle stably in rural areas."
