[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Singer Park Kyung (28), who was sued after raising suspicions of chart manipulation, has been sentenced to a fine.

According to the court on the 17th, Judge Kim Hee-dong of the Seoul Eastern District Court Criminal Division 31 issued a summary order on the 11th of this month, imposing a fine of 5 million won on Park Kyung, who was summarily indicted for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).

A summary order means that when the prosecution requests the court to impose a fine or penalty without a formal trial but only through document review, the court reviews the documents and issues a sentence without a full trial.

In November last year, Park Kyung raised suspicions of chart manipulation by naming six artists, including Vibe, on his social network service (SNS), leading to lawsuits from the mentioned artists.

The Seongdong Police Station in Seoul referred Park Kyung to the prosecution in June on charges of violating the Information and Communications Network Act, and the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office summarily indicted him on the 26th of last month.
