President Moon Congratulates Prime Minister Suga on Inauguration... Wishes Abe a Speedy Recovery President Moon Jae-in is meeting with former British Prime Minister Theresa May, who visited Korea to attend the World Knowledge Forum, at the Blue House on the afternoon of the 16th.


President Moon Jae-in sent a congratulatory letter on the 16th to newly appointed Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, expressing his intention to "work together to further develop Korea-Japan relations during your tenure."


On the same day, President Moon sent the congratulatory letter to Prime Minister Suga on his inauguration, the Blue House spokesperson Kang Min-seok reported.


In the letter, President Moon stated, "Not only do we share fundamental values and strategic interests, but as the geographically and culturally closest friends, the Korean government is always ready to sit down, talk, and communicate with the Japanese government," adding, "We look forward to Japan's active response."


The Blue House stated, "Our government intends to actively cooperate with Prime Minister Suga and the new cabinet to wisely overcome historical issues and to strengthen future-oriented and mutually beneficial practical cooperation in various fields such as economy, culture, and human exchange."


Additionally, President Moon sent a letter to former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, who resigned due to health reasons, wishing him a speedy recovery and appreciating his efforts toward the development of Korea-Japan relations, spokesperson Kang said.
